A little bit about me
My name is Erin Shetter. I have lived in the Winchester area for 7 years and have been coming to the Centre for Fitness for about 3 years. The Salon was a brainstorm Barbara Sweeney (Owner) and I had one day while talking in the locker room. Barbara used to work as a hairstylist before she became a fitness trainer and gym owner. We discussed how great it would be for members and area women to have a place to go to get their hair done at great rates and still receive top service.
This is where I come in...I have been working as a hair designer and colorist for the past 10 years in the Northern Virginia area. I have kept up with my education and training to be able to offer my clients the latest in design, color, and texture. I am a graduate of Potomac Academy of Hair Design; a Pivot Point Member School. I continued my education at The Graham Webb International Academy of Hair and completed advanced color training through L'Oreal Technique Professionnelle Colour Keys I & II.
I am a Certified Novalash eyelash extensionist. This is a fun procedure that adds length and thickness to your own eyelashes. You can still wear mascara if you want, but with a full set of Novalash extensions, it isn't really necessary. The lashes are attached to your own eyelashes with a black USP class IV permanent adhesive. This means the lashes last until your own lash falls out. It does not damage your own lashes. Fill ins are required every 3 to 5 weeks (more often with a partial set) to keep your lashes lush. Great for weddings and parties. Check out www.novalash.com.
I am also a Certified So.Cap hair extensionist, which is for more than just super long hair. You can add length, but also volume, and thickness. And this is my favorite part of extending hair... color without chemicals that does not fade... even the fantasy colors. Check out the So.Cap websites at www.socapusa.com and www.yourextensions.com for more info.
The Pink Hair for Hope campaign is so successful during the months of September and October that I run my own version in the spring. April is Autism Awareness Month, and anyone who knows me, knows that my son, Gage, has high-functioning autism. So...I decided to do a fundraiser on my own, not sponsored through SoCap, to raise money for Autism Speaks. It is the same basic idea, except I use blue hair extensions, the puzzle piece color used by Autism Speaks. The extensions are $10 per piece, and take only a few moments to apply. This is a big hit with the kids and teens, as it's a way to have a funky colored streak without any damage to their own hair. It's a fun way to support a great cause, and I am be able to donate about 70% of what I collect to Autism Speaks (I have to cover the cost of the hair ;)). If you just want to donate without getting the hair extension, I am more than happy to collect it for you, or you can go right to www.autismspeaks.org and donate online. This is the fastest growing developmental disorder in our country today with 1 in 150 kids affected, and 1 in 94 boys, a staggering increase in the last few years. So, i just try to do my part in conjunction with my clients to raise money for this great charity. Thanks everyone!!
